Friendship Shelter operates a full spectrum of services to end homelessness, including street outreach, emergency shelter, housing navigation, financial assistance, and permanent housing with supportive services. Primary Purpose:

The Compliance Associate is responsible for performing administrative tasks that support programmatic, operational, and contractual compliance with the Regional Care Coordination Program. Additionally, the position will perform routine monitoring of the program’s adherence to agency and regulatory requirements with the goal of identifying and correcting potential compliance risks. While this position is part of the agency’s compliance team, tasks, and performance will be assigned and supervised by the Regional Care Coordination Program Manager. This position will be required to stay up to date with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all contracts and regulatory requirements affecting the assigned programs.
  • Monitor and support compliance in the following programmatic areas:

Service Compliance

  • Conduct file audits to ensure required documentation is collected for all participants served by the shelter.
  • Conduct service documentation audits for quality assurance and adherence to agency standards for service delivery.

Data Compliance

  • Review HMIS data quality and make corrections as needed.
  • Monitor performance measure progress and correct any discrepancies in advance of reporting deadlines.
  • Provide administrative and compliance support to the Program’s CalAIM Community Supports activities:
  • Review and approve all billable activities, ensuring adherence to agency standards.
  • Monitor compliance with community support authorizations.
  • Assist with the transfer of notes to appropriate data systems as required.
  • Provide support to all third-party monitoring, including preparations beforehand and the submission of any reports or responses as requested by the Program Manager. Follow-up monitoring sessions by addressing any concerns or findings and working with the Program Manager to develop systems that ensure future compliance.
  • Create and maintain monitoring tools that assist with routine monitoring, including position workflow documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the staff, compliance team, and data team.
  • Complete other tasks as directed by the Compliance Manager and Regional Care Coordination Program Manager

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of experience in compliance.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Desire to be a part of a team that is passionately committed to ending homelessness.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to understand and manage complex information.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including spreadsheets.

Environmental & Physical Requirements

Office / Non-Sedentary Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work will be performed in shared spaces within the office environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66% hours each workday doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May require the ability to lift and/or push up to 25 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
